KL to Manila

Ello ello ello, sorry for late posting, it has been rather busy here. The last 3 days have been so cool.
2 days ago Hannahs aunty took us on a tour of KL, it is so cool, we saw the twin towers which look so much cooler in real life then TV. and drove around the city looking at all the attractions like the law courts and the indepencence statue, which interestingly enough showed dead British soldiers, which is weird because indepence was not fought for, but o well. anyway after that we went to 1 of the many many shopping malls in KL. they are really nice and just like British malls but double the size, Westfield doesnt even come close. after that we went to this cricket ground in the centre of town which looks just like an old English village building, with black and white timber cladding, really quite cool. il put the pics up once I get to another computer.
anyway that evening it was one of Hannahs cousins birthdays so we went over their house, before hand Hannah offered to give me a tour of the estate (she drove - no licence - very scary) ..no kidding Hannah was a good driver. The estate is one where you buy a plot of land and build your own houses, some of them were really cool and elegant. some of them were naff as hell. but it was really interesting to see how diverse they were. like there were Miami style houses next to traditional Chinese looking bamboo houses. Anyway later that evening after the tour we had a birthday dinner, as Hannahs family is Chinese Malay all the food was Chinese, there was some really nice stuff like crackers with prawns inside and spicy beef. nothing like Anglo Chinese food. After that there was a family photo, i felt really humbled that they included me even though i wasnt a family member. it was really nice.
After that we went on a late night stroll of KL, through the Picadilly equilevent. there was music playing, people putting stuff in your face, horns blazing. just how you would imagion an asian city centre to be. we wondered around for a bit but the place were guna go was shut so we went to this other restauront in another district and had this wiked indian bread and some banana lassys. it was 2 when we left....
The following day started with yet more food, having gone to bed so late we were all bear nackered. Hannahs uncle is from this region of China -i forget the name- near Taiwan, so we went to eat some of his tradional food for breakfast. only to me it seemed more like dinner as there was rice, beef and soup. it was really tasty though. Soon after we went back and got redy to go this place Putaranjia, which is the Malaysian administrative capital. it was built to provide jobs during the asian finanical crisis in the late 90s. it is a huge city with just government offices. once i can put some pics up you will see what i mean. the city is huge and is still growing but the population is rather small so there is a lot of room. after Putaranjia we went back to Hannahs aunts place to chill before going to this street where they just sell fake shit. everything is fake, watches, perfume, handbags, trainers, mobiles, clothes, even fake swiss army knives. it was weird. o and probably every DVD from the last 10 years. after that we headed back for one last meal (Malays eat a lot) i was begining to feel real fat after this one.
Soon after Hannahs aunt + Hannah droped me off at the bus station, so i could get a coach to the low cost airline terminal. The terminal is really basic but surprisingly well laid out. it is basicially a huge hanger with no arcutecture, just pure simplicity and ease of use. after chilling and reading a book for an hour or so I got the flight to Manila in the Philipeans, I was met by the of the owners of the hostel apparently he waited 3 hours since 4 in the morning (i felt real bad) . anyway im glad that he came because Manila is really tricky, and being white and obviously foreign looking doesnt help much. lots of taxis just pull up next to you when you are walking and keep bothering you, but as with everything i guess you have ignore them and carry on. anyway Joe is coming in a few hours from Singapore, tomorrow we are heading off to Boracay island. but now im guna go get some Mountain Dew for old times sake.
